SSSP - StarGarden Foundation Ongoing School Donations Project

The people who attend the Southern Skies Star Party and make donations usually take an afternoon and head into town to the local schools to deliver the school supplies and astronomy equipment. Pencils and pens are some of the most needed supplies. One year we held a drawing contest with the winners receiving additional gifts. Its not unusual for attendees to also stuff in fun small toys and other kid related items like bubbles, race cars and small games. One year we gathered in the main plaza and our panel of experts answered astronomy questions from the children. Every year its different and you never know what to expect!

Becuase our luggage is limited by weight, donations of cash (Tax deductable) is also very welcome. Supplies are available in LaPaz at reasonable prices... its just that the schools have no money to purchase them. So monetary donations can be spent in the country (also helping the economy) and we don't have to haul the stuff 6,000 miles!
