SSSP - StarGarden Foundation Ongoing School Donations Project

During the "Official" presentation of the donations, parents, school officials and town officials gather at the school for the ceremonies. Speaches are made (with english to spanish and spanish to english translations) . Donations of telescope, star charts, desktop computers, laptop computers, a microscope with hundreds of slides, a complete set of spanish encolpedias, hundreds of pencils, pens, rulers, paper, colored pencils, science supplies, posters barely cover all the donations over the past years. The schools reveive very little in support for the government and everyone knows when the "gringos" from the United States are scheduled to arrive... Christmas in June! Even if you can't attend and want to help, please email us! A tour of a typical classroom showed that there was generally 1 or 2 books for a class of 20. Little or no chalk for the blackboard. Little or no paper for drawing or writing and usually no pencils or pens to write with. It's no wonder that after a year, nearly everything we bring down one year is depleted by the next. Becuase our luggage is limited by weight, donations of cash (Tax deductable) is also very welcome. Supplies are available in LaPaz at reasonable prices... its just that the schools have no money to purchase them. So monetary donations can be spent in the country (also helping the economy) and we don't have to haul the stuff 6,000 miles!
