IMPORTANT! Special Circumstances exist for 2012!

Because this eclipse begins just minutes after SUNRISE on November 14, 2012, we must have a vantage point with viewing of the Sun as it rises on that morning in order to see the full eclipse. First contact is just 10 minutes after sunrise on eclipse morning.

Due to the topography of the Cairns area (as shown below), the sun is NOT VISIBLE from the coast of the Cairns Harbor at dawn. We have therefore chosen to view from our privately selected east-facing beach outside of Carins.  Our location provides significantly more mobility than Cairns, with many km of open east-facing beachline.

After totality, guests may choose to explore this area of rich National Parks in a choice of several optional day-tour activities. A number of suggestions include:  Birdwatching at Eunbenangee Swamp National Park, Climb Queensland’s highest mountain Mt Bartle Frere, swim in the icy waters of Josephine Falls, see the cascades at Babinda Boulders, walk along the long sandy beaches where the rainforest meets the ocean, walk at low tide to the roadless township at the mouth of the Russell River. At the end of the day, transfers will be provided back to your Cairns Hotel.

Those who are tired; or have other plans before the evening's celebration dinner may prefer to be transferred back to the hotel instead.  Our group of chartered busses are available for transfers as soon as the 4th contact is over until the end of day tour options.
