In Mongolia, the 'Land of Eternal Blue Sky' you will discover an extraordinary ancient culture set in a timeless land. Here for thousands of years survival has required resourcefulness, independence, and a close affinity with mother nature and her spirits. In a paradox which is so difficult to describe it can only be experienced, you the traveler will often feel you are in another world, but right at home.
Mongolia really is all about landscapes, nature/wildlife, and culture, and to a certain extent, history. Landscapes are simply magnificent and pristine all over Mongolia. Nature and wildlife in both the west and the two protected areas in central Mongolia are remarkable. Cultural discoveries in Mongolia are the nomadic way of life, buddhism and monasteries, and shamanism.
Our group will have an insight into unique cultures in the Hovd province, with a khoomi throat singing performance and dinner wtih local nomadic families to learn about the customs and lifestyle. Those traveling to the Olgii area will enjoy time with the eagle hunters and their families.
Our path takes us up over breathtaking passes in the Altai mountains, traveling through areas known for wildlife, scenery and nomadic heardsmen. Wildife viewing in these protected areas for the conservation of the Snow Leopard include many bird species, marmots, fox, Argali sheep and Ibex, but it is rare indeed to spot the elusive snow leopards. It isn't uncomon to find footprints of the snow leapard.
