Leonid Meteor storm and Jaipur Solar Observatory
Perhaps the last big meteor storm of our lifetime.

Day 1 - Nov 15. Arrive Delhi.

On arrival, transfer to your hotel.
Accommodation: Shangri-La Hotel ( 2 nights)

Day 2 - Nov 16. Delhi sightseeing. BD
In the morning, visit the bustling, busy area of winding back streets and colourful ambience of Old Delhi. Afterwards, visit The Red Fort (By rickshaw throuht the spice market) and Raj Ghat, the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi. In the afternoon, visit the Qutub Minar, India Gate, the Presidential Palace and the 16th Century tomb of Humayun.

Day 3 - Nov 17. Delhi to Jaipur. BD
Depart by road for Jaipur. Afternoon visit the open-air royal Solar observatory "Jantar Mantar", with gigantic, astronomical instruments, the City Palace and Museum stopping by the "Hawa Mahal" or the Palace of Winds
followed by rickshaw ride through bazaar.
Late night (all night) Meteor viewing from hotel vicinity.

Day 4 - Nov 18. Jaipur. Morning free. BD
The day begins with an opportunity to shop. Jaipur is a shopper’s delight offering a wide range of local handicrafts, vegetable dyed carpets with Persian designs, block printing with indigo and a variety of natural dyes, blue pottery, tie and dye fabrics and scarves. Jaipur is also famous for its gems and is a centre for the gem cutting industry.

This afternoon, visit to the Amber fort, the former seat of the Rajput rulers of Jaipur. Ascending the fortress seated on elephants, wander around the beautiful palaces and visit the Shiladevi temple (which continues to be the private temple of the Royal family) with its exquisite marble carvings and silver door.

Day 5 - Nov 19. Jaipur to Agra. BLD
35kms before Agra is Fatehpur Sikri, the abandoned red sandstone city built in the 16th century by the Mughal Emperor Akbar, one of India's greatest rulers. Remarkably broadminded for his time, this Muslim king married a Rajput princess in order to win over his Hindu subjects. The architecture at Fatehpur Sikri is a combination of Hindu and Muslim styles, expressing Akbar's vision of synthesizing the cultures

Afternoon visit the Taj Mahal (to watch the sunset)
With its incredible lacy white grandeur the Taj Mahal is perhaps the most perfect architectural monument in the world. To the poet Tagore it was a `tear on the face of eternity'. In memory of his wife the great Mughal emperor Shah Jehan constructed this most extravagant and incomparable monument built for love. Amazingly graceful from any angle, it is the close up detail, which is really astounding.

Day 6 - Nov 20. Agra & Taj Mahal BD
Early this morning before sunrise, experience the amazing monument to love, the Taj Mahal built in 1630 by the Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife. Also visit Agra Fort.
In the afternoon, depart by road for Delhi and overnig
ht.

Day 7 - Nov 21 . End of Tour or Fly to Nepal BD
End your tour and return home / or continue with Jen and the group to Kathmandu Nepal.
Welcome to Himalayan kingdom of Nepal. You will be met by our representative and transferred to the hotel of your choice. Remainder of the day is free. This evening you may wish to visit the lovely Thamel area.

Day 8 - Nov 22. Kathmandu Sightseeing
(With option of early morning Everest overflight)

Day 9 - Nov 23 Royal Chitwan National Park.
Fly from Kathmandu to Bharatpur and transfer to your hotel in Chitwan National Park consisting of 400 square miles of river valleys, dense forests and low hills. Temple Tiger Lodge LD

Day 10- Nov 24. CXhitwan National Park Jungle activities.
A full day on by elephant game safari with a Naturalist guide. Look out for deer, rhinoceroses, tigers, leopards and more. At the foot of the Himalayas, Chitwan is one of the few remaining undisturbed vestiges of the 'Terai' region, which formerly extended over the foothills of India and Nepal. It has a particularly rich flora and fauna. One of the last populations of single-horned Asiatic rhinoceros lives in the park, which is also one of the last refuges of the rare and elusive Bengal tiger. BLD

Day 11 - Nov 25. Chitwan to Kathmandu.
Travel overland to Kathmandu. BD,
Accommodation: Yak & Yeti Hotel (1 night)

Day 12 - Nov 26. Depart Nepal for Delhi and onward home.
