Day 1, July 9 Tahiti

Arrive in Tahiti transfer to Radisson Hotel, Tahiti. Enjoy the best that French Polynesia has to offer at our exclusive five-star beachfront resort in Tahiti. Tonight, we meet for our welcome dinner at the Radisson.

Day 2, 10 July Tahiti - Easter Island
This evening, hear a lecture about what to expect about the coming eclipse. Later this evening, depart by chartered Air Tahiti Nui A340-300 Aircraft for overnight flight to Easter Island. Our flight is 5.5 hours long. Addition of 4 hours due to time zone difference causes us to arrive the following morning. B,D.

Day 3, 11 July On Easter Island
Our specially chartered flight will touch down at dawn directly in the path of totality. Our supported viewing site and eclipse camp offers 4:57 duration; with first contact at 12:40pm, totality at 2:08pm, and 4th contact at 3:34pm. We visit well known Rano Raraku, Tongariki, Tahai sectors. Then, as the As the sun sets, so does our time on Rapa Nui. After a long eclipse day, guests return to their hotel on Tahiti with a 6 hour flight, arriving in time for a welcome sleep in Tahiti.

Day 4, 12 July Moorea
This afternoon, we leave the Radisson and transfer by intra-island ferry to the island of Moorea and to our hotel.Overnight: Moorea Pearl Resort or Sofitel Moorea la Ora Beach Resort

Day 5, 13 July Moorea
Full day free on Moorea. Tonight, we have organized a special star party for the group. We can set up our scopes and enjoy some southern sky stargazing to give you a proper tour. From here we will be able to see the LMC, Crux, Omega Centauri, Eta Carinae and 47 Tucane.

Day 6, 14 July Moorea to Bora Bora
Today, transfer fly Moorea to Bora Bora. Your cost includes R/T flights and transfer by boat from the airport. Remainder of day at leisure: B

Day 8 JUL 16 Bora Bora - Tahiti This afternoon, return by boat to the airport for your flght back to Papeete in time for your international departure. B

Bora Bora is a small island thick with coconut forests and colorful villages and surrounded by miles of fine, white sandy beaches and crystal clear, turquoise water as far as the eye can see.

Our guests enjoy overwater bungalows built over the clear Bora Bora lagoon waters, a little closer to the resort buildings with views back over the beach and the island's lush interior. They are a roomy 613 sq ft (57sq m) junior suite size, including the split-level terrace and the sundeck from which you step into the warm lagoon with its white sand bottom. You can even enjoy a private fresh outside shower after your swim or snorkeling expedition.

Payment Schedule:
Registration fee: $1,000.00 per person.
Install #1: $1,800.00 per person by 10/1/2009.
Install #2: $2,195.00 per person by 3/1/2010.

Cancellation terms
Deposit fully refundable until 10/1/2009.
10/2/2009 - 3/1/2010: $1,000.00 per person cancellation penalty.
3/2/2010 - 5/1/2010: $2,800.00 per person cancellation penalty.
5/2/2010 - departure: 100% cancellation penalty. (All deposits non-refundable.)

Mandatory Trip Insurance
Travel insurance is mandatory for participation in this program. Passengers may purchase their own.  Tickets will not be issued until policy is demonstrated to Astronomical Tours.
Travel protection insurance is available for $328.00pp. Trip insurance protects you in the event of trip or flight cancellations, delays, and medical expenses. Insurance must be purchased before the time of your final deposit and offers protection for pre-existing medical conditions if purchased at the time of registration.

10/2/2009 - 5/1/2010: $1,300.00 per person cancellation penalty.
3/2/2010 - 3/1/2010: $3,350.00 per person cancellation penalty.

* A note about this charter.  As a successful and timely operation of this charter is necessary for all clients to witness the eclipse on Easter Island, and due to the remote nature of the travel destination concerning medical evacuation, Astronomical Tours requires that all passengers purchase travel insurance. In the event that circumstances out of our control such as weather, common carrier default or governmental conditions prevent the operation of this flight as scheduled, Astronomical Tours shall not be liable for refund of fare. Travel insurance with trip cancellation coverage will protect travelers in the event of such loss, in the same way which other airline flight cancellations and tour segments are covered. Astronomical Tours acts as an agent only and does not own or operate any aircraft.  Safe operation of the flight is under the control of the common carrier in accordance to international and US DOT regulation and therefore, laws and limits of liability are governed as such.  At the time of contract of this charter, Air Tahiti Nui representatives asserted that while in contact with governances at IPC airport, there exist no known prohibitions to the operation of the flight.
